New Registration of Aircraft


a)The new owner must fully complete and sign the relevant form, CA47A1 OR CA47R1

,and ensure compliance with all the requirements of Part 47 OR Part 101 of the

Civil Aviation Regulations, 2011.


b)The new owner should then submit the original

application to the SACAA, accompanied by the applicable supporting documents

as set out in the application form, as well as the prescribed fee as indicated in Part

187 of the SACAR (R625.00).

In the case of an aircraft which is imported into the Republic for the first time or

returns to the Republic and has to be re-registered on the SACAR:


• Certificate or notification of cancellation from the appropriate authority of state

or territory in which the aircraft was last registered

• Notification of Non-Registration from the appropriate authority of the state or

territory from which the aircraft is imported

• Evidence of ownership or suitable affidavit stating that the applicant is the owner

of the aircraft

• A copy of Clearance Importation Document issued by SARS (SAD500 form), if

not applicable, a confirmation letter from SARS as applicable.

In the case of RPA which is imported into the Republic for the first time or returns

to the Republic and has to be re-registered on the SACAR:

One suitable affidavit confirming the following:

• Non-Registration or De-registration of the RPA form the state or territory from

which the aircraft is imported

• Ownership of the RPA

• Manufacturer, model and serial number of the RPA

• A copy of Clearance Importation Document issued by SARS (SAD500 form), if

not applicable, a confirmation letter from SARS as applicable.


In the case of ex-military aircraft:


• Confirmation issued by SANCACC that the aircraft is not fitted with any armaments

In the case of an amateur aircraft:

• A copy of the build number authorisation issued by the Director for Civil Aviation

If the aircraft is to be registered in the name of an individual, any of the following

(excluding RPAS):

• A certified copy of SA identity document

• A certified copy of SA passport

• A certified copy of a valid SA drivers licence.

If the aircraft is to be registered in the name of a company:

• A copy of the latest register of directors approved in terms of the Companies

Act, 2008 (Act No. 71 of 2008)

• Any of the following certified documents: SA identity document, SA passport,

valid SA drivers licence of a person authorised on the resolution


 If the aircraft is to be registered in the name of a close corporation:


  • a copy of the latest founding statement approved in terms of the Close Corporation Act,

1984 (Act No. 69 of 1984)

• Any of the following certified documents: SA identity document, SA passport,

valid SA driver’s licence of a person authorised on the resolution.


If the aircraft is to be registered in the name of a trust:


• A certified copy of the appropriate letter of appointment as trustee issued by

the Master of the High Court

• Any of the following certified documents: SA identity document, SA passport,

valid SA drivers licence of a person authorised on the resolution.


If the aircraft is to be registered in the name of a partnership (excluding RPAS):

• A certified copy of the partnership agreement

• Any of the following certified documents: SA identity document, SA passport,

valid SA driver’s licence of a person authorised on the resolution.
